PG Wodehouse, the great English humorist has given us many interesting characters. Jeeves, Bertie Wooster, Lord Elmsworth, the Empress, Freddie Threepwood, Uncle Fred and Ukridge — to name but a few. Of cours he has also given us the Duke of Dunstable, a plethora of aunts (excluding the lovely Aunt Dahlia of course) and that most irritating Rupert Baxter. But of all the characters created by this giften author, I find none more entertaining and endearing than Psmith.

Psmith (“the p is silent as is Ptarmigan or psychology”) appeared in only a few works of PG Wodehouse and that too in his early years. But what he…
